Free software, in beta, given away with no warranty.

The short version

Where is free software, given away with no warranty and no support promise, and it is currently in beta. You run it on your own hardware and you are responsible for what happens there. This page is the longer way of saying that.

Beta software

Where is at an early stage. Features may change, data formats may change, and defects are likely. Do not rely on it as the only record of anything that matters, and keep your own copy of the data folder. Version numbers below 1.0 are a signal, not a formality.

Licence

The software is released under the GNU General Public Licence, version 3. You may run it, study it, change it and share it, on the terms that licence sets out. The full text ships with the source code and it, not this page, governs your use of the software.

No warranty

As sections 15 and 16 of that licence state, the software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Nothing here promises that it will work, keep working, or suit any particular purpose. Lightmorphic is not liable for lost data, lost time, or anything you could not find. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

What you are responsible for

  • The server it runs on, and keeping it patched.
  • Backing up the data folder. There is no copy anywhere else.
  • Who can reach it. There is no sign-in, so anyone on the network it is exposed to can use it. It is not designed to face the open internet.
  • The models you choose to run through Ollama and the terms those come with.

This website

These pages are provided for information. We try to keep them accurate and current, and we correct mistakes when we find them, but we do not warrant that everything here is complete or up to date. Links to other sites are not endorsements of them.

Trade marks and other projects

Ollama and Moondream are separate projects, with their own licences and their own owners, and are not affiliated with Lightmorphic. Docker is a trade mark of Docker, Inc. Naming them here is description, not any claim of association.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
